The 2015 Kai has the same blend as the 2014, mostly Carmenere with some 5% Syrah fermented in stainless steel and aged in French barriques for two years. This is the wine that had not been changed in terms of ripeness and oak, but the change seems to have arrived in 2015, with some lots harvested earlier, with less alcohol and less amount of new oak. That translates into fresher fruit and a fresher wine despite the warmer year. I notice it especially in the palate, where the lively acidity nicely balances the tannins and provides for more length and more focused flavors. (Wine Advocate – Luis Guti?rrez)
