Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Hanisch Shiraz is profoundly scented of creme de cassis, blackberry preserves, menthol and cloves with hints of cedar, vanilla, cinnamon stick and chocolate. Medium to full bodied, the palate provides a good concentration of taut, muscular ripe berry and baking spice flavors balanced by a medium to firm level of finely grained tannins and crisp acidity. The finish is long with berry, spice and mint layers. It is delicious now though should improve with a couple of years in bottle and drink to 2020+. (Wine Advocate – Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
