The 2005 Malleolus de Valderramiro is a dense opaque purple color. It has a roasted character along with Asian spices, incense, and a cocktail of black fruits. Powerful on the palate, this is a packed effort with loads of fruit and tannin that will require a minimum of 8-10 years to become approachable. Emilio Moro?s Malleolus de Valderramiro is sourced from an 85-year-old Tempranillo vineyard of the same name. Alcoholic fermentation is done with native yeasts after which the wine goes through malolactic in American oak. It is then aged for 18 months in new French oak. (Wine Advocate – Jay S Miller)
